  1. n. The psalm usually appointed for penitential acts, being
  2. the 50th psalm in the Latin version. It commences with the word
  3. miserere.
  4. n. A musical composition adapted to the 50th psalm.
  5. n. A small projecting boss or bracket, on the under side of
  6. the hinged seat of a church stall (see Stall). It was intended, the
  7. seat being turned up, to give some support to a worshiper when
  8. standing. Called also misericordia.
  9. n. Same as Ileus.
